Okay… confession time. You know how I’m always messing with my cars, obsessing over paint finishes, and generally turning into that guy who can’t walk past a dirty fender without wanting to cry? Well… I went full send.
I started my very own detailing brand. Yep. Blk Tie Detailing.
Not a side hustle. Not a “let’s slap a sticker on a generic bottle and call it mine” type of thing. No. I actually worked on formulas, tested them myself, and made sure they didn’t suck before you ever saw them.
And because it’s me, I had to make sure they weren’t just good—they had to be stupid good.
There are a million detailing products out there. Some are good. Some are… well… they’re basically overpriced water.
I wanted products that I would actually use on my own cars—stuff that works in the real world, not just in some lab with a guy wearing a white coat (no offense, lab coat guy).
I wanted:
High quality: If it’s not better than what’s on my shelf now, I’m not selling it.
Fun to use: If detailing feels like a chore, you’re doing it wrong.
Actually tested: Not “we sprayed it on a panel in a controlled environment once” tested—more like “we sprayed it in Texas heat, got rained on, and still had a gloss that made angels sing” tested.
Here’s how it went:
Mixed batches like some sort of mad scientist.
Sprayed them on my own cars (because if it ruined them, at least I could only be mad at myself).
Adjusted formulas until they were buttery smooth, streak-free, and smelled amazing.
Repeated Step 2 and Step 3 about a hundred times.
If you grab something from Blk Tie Detailing and use it on your car, I want to see it. Like… immediately.

We’ll repost the coolest shots, the funniest ones, and maybe even the ones where you’re clearly just flexing your wheels in the driveway (we see you). Plus, if you make a review video you may just get featured in our future youtube videos!
We’re starting small—sealants, washes, and the essentials. But I’m already working on more products. And knowing me, there will be videos of me accidentally spilling stuff, using it on the wrong thing, or going way too far with the foam cannon just for content.
Speaking of content—if you want to follow the whole journey:
YouTube – Evan Shanks (where I’ll overshare about everything and probably give away too much)
Instagram – Evan Shanks (where you’ll see behind-the-scenes chaos)
Look, this isn’t just “another car brand.” This is my brand. I’ve poured time, effort, and entirely too much coffee into making sure these products are ones I’d be proud to recommend to my own friends.
Now it’s your turn—wash your ride, tag us, and let’s make the internet shiny together.
